Ford Endeavour, an SUV with quite a boxy look has taken on an entirely new avatar for the year 2016. Here is what we have to say about the monstrous 3.2 L 4x4 auto transmission 2016 Ford Endeavour that was recently relaunched.
What is cool?
The first thing you will notice is that the car is gorgeous and illustrious looking SUV. Not just that, it is quite sleek and has some sharp looking curves too. The front nose is somewhat pointy but still formidable and tough and the grille has lots of chrome to help create a magnanimous stature. The headlamps have been redesigned with daytime running LED lights and even have projector head lights. The seven-seater has a lot of space and comes with numerous gadgets for you to play with.
There are 22 buttons just on the steering wheel which means everything you need is within an inch of your fingers. The instrument cluster has a number of data points, and each button has a unique function.
Riding over the Rockies in Style
The list of features on the interior seems to be endless. The leather included on the dashboard makes the cabin look more luxurious. The riding position is quite commanding, and there is enough thigh support and leg room for every passenger. Yes, this car is amazing for long trips. The cabin is not claustrophobic at all because of the huge sunroof included in the new Endeavour and because of the spacious conformities.
The features inside include a huge touch screen info system on the dashboard, electronically adjustable seats, a number of airbags, SYNC 2.0 from Ford, auto climate control, and ten speakers which can put any pre-fitted sound system to the test. The cabin also comes with noise canceling features which makes it very quiet. You will not hear the 3.2 L motor at all while cruising around the city or on the highway.
What detail has not been left out?
The massive 3.2 L engine is the highlight of the 2016 Ford Endeavour. It churns out 200 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. Included is the 6-speed auto transmission and you have got a monster to command at your hands.
The Endeavour has a 4x4 drivetrain, and you have access to a nifty knob near the gear lever so you can play around with the terrain system. There are four modes to choose from and all it takes is the twist of the knob, and your SUV will be ready to go anywhere. There is a hill descent feature on the car too which works like a charm. The driver only needs to manage the speed using the controls on the wheel.
Snow, ice, sand, dirt, gravel, mud – this SUV can take them all on while you rest in comfort.
And if you are worried about parking, don't be because the parking assist ensures that the car can park itself even in a tight space. All the driver has to do is to take care of the brakes and gears.
With such a large engine, it is only obvious that you would lose out on fuel economy. But there is a 2.2 L engine for the Endeavour which comes with similar features for those worried about fuel economy.
Also, the parking assist can only help with parallel parking and that too just on the left. So you can drive this car in urban areas. It does not help with perpendicular parking but that is not a deal breaker. The car is missing a start/stop button which has become somewhat a regular feature in most luxury cars today. But this is still a pretty luxurious vehicle for an SUV.
The cross country settlers in the 19th century would have loved to have this vehicle.
Verdict
Has Ford done enough to be the leader in this price segment? Of course it has.
