The Focus is easily one of Ford's best creation until date except perhaps the Mustang which has attained legendary status with a cult following. But it seems like the Focus is on the same path and a few decades from now, it may well attain a cult following of its own.
Upgrade Kit
The new Ford Focus offers a mind boggling 345bhp of raw power that mere mortals are afraid to control. As if that was not enough, Montune thinks the Focus needs to be more focused. So what did he come out with? A new state of the art upgrade kit that will only make Focus the stuff of the legends. Based out of Essex, the ace tuner has developed new drivetrain and chassis tuning package for the Focus that he claims will increase the performance of the beast and take it to a whole new level.
It is to be noted over here that no hard numbers or figures have been revealed by Montune but the spirits are high and he is getting a lot of media attention. There is also an enhanced intake set which has been specifically designed for the 2.3 litre engine that the Focus comes fitted with.
There is a high flow induction hose to support the car. In case you are looking for more, there is also a boost host upgrade kit. The whole kit has been designed for surviving in higher temperatures which is only going to further increase the turbo efficiency of the kit.
Phase 1
According to Montune, this is only the phase 1 of his grand master plan. This suggests that there are going to be more upgrade kits to be released in the future which is a good thing. Montune has fitted the kit with a shorter gear which reduces gear throw instances by about 25 percent.
This improves the overall driving experience. Polyurethane has been used in order to reduce the impact of driveline movement due to hard use. For fans of drifting, he has fitted the kit with a gear based Quaife ATB which not only provides a smoother experience, but also better traction on the tracks when you are in the drift mode. This may come in handy for those esoteric few who like to race cars in Japan or in parking garages. But as Dominic Toretto proved in Fast 7 (though it was just stated) muscle cars can do well in parking garage races that require drifting as well but that is another topic.
On the chassis front, 19 inch OZ Racing Leggera HLT wheels have been used which are both half an inch wider and around 3 kg lighter than the standard rims that are provided by Ford by default.
Phase 2
Talking more about the Phase Two of the Focus upgrade kit, Montune says that he is planning to take the power all the way up to 400 bhp. That would be an insane Focus to drive around in. Around 10,000 examples of the Ford Focus have been already sent to the US while around 3,500 of the 4,000 scheduled for UK has been dispatched. The Focus is currently seeing insane demands in the market and for all the right reasons.
With the limited availability of the Focus in the market, it is going to be even harder for you guys to get your hands on one of the upgrade kits as they may also be in shortage. So if you are planning to buy a Ford Focus or if you already own one but are looking to upgrade it using the phase 1 of the Montune upgrade kit, then it is recommended that you order one now.
