The updated Ford Kuga SUV is going to be on sale before the year is over. They announced a number of details about the SUV while also announcing that bookings are open now. It gets an updated styling, improved technology, and new engines.

The car comes with 118 hp 1.5 L EcoBoost turbo engine which runs on gas. You could go for the Titanium spec or the new sporty ST-Line.

The flagship version Vignale, which comes with an upmarket interior and bespoke styling has a 148 hp 2 L TDCi engine in diesel with FWD. You could also press the button for the 178 hp version of the engine which comes with AWD. There's also the 179 hp 1.5 L EcoBoost engine which also runs on gas which comes with automatic transmission and AWD.

The front end has been revised, and the grilled design has been tweaked as well. The car also has restyled LED daytime running lights, and foglamps with reshaped bumpers. The back end gets updated with a reshaped tail-lamp and boot lid. The higher models will have a fake diffuser and a couple of exhausts. They will have rear lights inside the bumper.

Buyers get to choose between 17, 18, and 19-inch wheels as well as a couple of new colors, copper pulse, and guard grey. It can get specced with a towbar that retracts electrically in the rear bumper. Ford hopes these updates will help make the Kuga more sophisticated.

Inside, the dashboard gets an ergonomic design, but it still doesn't look very different. The screen is much bigger and gets fewer buttons for the audio system and air conditioner. The center console is much clearer too now with the addition of an e-parking brake. The car also gets a heated steering wheel among other features.

Every auto model now comes with wheel-mounted paddles which improves driver enjoyment. Their adaptive front lighting has comes to the Kuga. This adapts the light style while reading the road, your speed, the distance from the vehicle in front and, the steering angle. Further boosting the safety credentials of the vehicle is torque vectoring, intelligent AWD, curve control, active city stop, cross traffic alert, and auto braking.

The biggest inclusion under the hood is the 118 hp 1.5 L diesel engine which Ford claims has 115 g/km CO2 emissions and can give you 64.2 mpg. Even though it doesn't replace an engine, it should end up being a fleet favorite.

The new Kuga has joined the updated EcoSport and the new Edge as part of 5 models which are getting redesigned over the next few years.

Earlier in the year, Ford also announced the arrival of its SYNC 3 system in Europe. It debuted on the Galaxy, S-MAX, and Mondeo. It is also going to be featured on the Kuga.

Ford says that the set up will allow drivers to control connected devices with conversational voice commands.

Sync 3 is also compatible with apps like AccuWeather and Spotify. It can install updates using your home WiFi. User experience is very simple, and fewer steps are necessary for it to function. Processing power has increased as well. Ford has added access for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. All of the Sync 3 systems come with 8-inch touchscreens and the pinch-to-zoom function. Not a bad deal!
