Many people, especially babies, feel sleepy when they are riding in a car. Car rides make it seem easy to cuddle in a corner and sleep like a baby – Unless you're driving with Dwight (Michael J. Fox) from the show Rescue Me. That's like riding in a roller coaster! You may not want him to drive if you're looking to catch up on rest.

Moreover, the case is truer if you are going on a long drive listening to the soft and purring sounds that are being made by the engine. This makes for a perfect sleep environment.

Max Motor Dreams

Now, Ford is looking to replicate the ambience of the car into a crib that is meant for babies so that they can go to sleep peacefully. This revolutionary new crib, the first of its kind from an automobile manufacturer, will help you put your babies to sleep in no time at all. The only concern is that the bed is just being designed for infants and not adults. We would have loved one, just in case Ford is reading this article.

Hopefully there aren't not any police sirens or people screaming at each other or crash sounds in this audio system. That would not be so harmonious.

The crib has been named Max Motor Dreams and the boundaries of the crib are illuminated with cool LED lights. This will help you locate the crib easily and quickly even in the dark. What's cool is that these lights mimic the street lights and are part of the whole long drive in a car experience.

Now comes the wheels part. The bottom of the crib has a vibrator that will rock and move creating a driving car experience and feeling. Essentially, the idea is to create an experience, using the lights and vibrator, to make believe that the crib is in fact a car that is cruising on a highway.

Hopefully there are no large divots in this drive since that could put the baby airborne and no parent wants that!

The App

You already know that pretty much everything these days is connected with an app; needless to say, the crib also comes with an app of its own. So, what does it do? The app, which is nothing short of intriguing, will allow you to track your car's movement, the real one, when you are driving around.

It will use motion detectors present on your smartphone to determine and measure the experience and then feed the data back to the crib. The crib will then mimic the soft jerks and bumps of the car putting the baby to sleep. Pretty nerdy! You can now create the most comfortable driving experience for your baby and bring it home anytime you want. It's just an app and a crib away.

The crib is not available at the moment as it is still in the concept stage, but the response has been tremendous. It has received a lot of attention and media coverage which means that Ford might just go ahead with the idea and make it a reality. This would be so cool.

Now you can have a Ford product in your home and garage.

Ideas and Suggestions

Here is an idea for the app to make it more useful. Incorporate some safety features like an alarm on your smartphone when the baby is awake and moving or when he is crying. A camera to capture images at regular intervals that will be sent to your smartphone so you know the baby is safe and sound. A small screen on the side with green sceneries so when the baby is awake, he/she will be treated to green landscapes and open blue skies.

The concept of this crib  is really cool and this will help Ford tap a new market segment – toddlers and infants. Tap them when they are young!
