September marks a very important time for Ford and its affiliates. Annually, September is known as Ford Global Caring Month. Throughout the month, Ford employees volunteer their time to help the people in their community. Through this program, Ford employees complete numerous projects, often significantly improving the standard of life in those areas.
This year, Ford Global Caring Month will span 38 countries across 6 continents. The event is run by the Ford Volunteer Corps. However, the Corps wouldn’t be able to complete the wide variety of projects without its volunteers. Additionally, it would be very hard for the Corps to complete the event without the funding that the Ford Fund provides. The Ford Fund provided $700,000 for this year’s Ford Global Caring Month.
Janet Lawson, the director of the Ford Volunteer Corps, spoke about the event, saying “Ford employees are helping people overcome obstacles to a better life and in the process, they are building stronger communities that benefit all of us.”
These Ford employees really do help people achieve a better life. In Russia, Ford employees worked towards assuring that the youngest and oldest of the country are taken care of, with the construction and renovation a senior citizens center and a school. In Mexico, employees built homes and renovated schools and shelters.
The work that Ford volunteers complete during Ford Global Caring Month is significant. These projects go a long way to helping people and improving their quality of life.
