It’s the start of a new ear, and companies are looking forward to their sales throughout the coming year. In order to accurately predict how a vehicle will perform, it is best to look at how it did the previous year. Now that it is officially 2018, automakers are able to look back at all of their 2017 sales.
In the muscle car market, the Ford Mustang came out on top. In a year with a fairly uncertain market, Ford manage to edge out its main competition to secure the most muscle car sales. The Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro registered solid sale numbers, at 64,537 and 67,940 respectively. However, they couldn’t stand up to the Mustang’s impressive 81,866 sales.
A key part of the Mustang’s sale success this year was the 2018 model, and the anticipation thereof. The new 2018 Mustang featured some key, desirable changes that left consumers eager to hope behind the wheel of one. Additionally, buyers could find the 2018 Mustang is some brand-new colors.
In 2018, Ford certainly hopes to maintain their place with their performance vehicle sales. Having the 2018 model on the road will help this effort along. Additionally, the company may introduce new models of the legendary car this year, including a Bullitt edition model and a Shelby GT500.
While it remains to be seen how the new year will treat the Ford Mustang, 2017 put the vehicle in first place.
