In recent years, it has become more and more apparent that Ford is invested in community and social development. The company has exerted itself in helping communities and individuals grow and reach their goals. While Ford’s primary focus is still automobiles, it’s hard to argue against the company’s devotion to development at all levels.

Ford has launched programs across the globe, but one of the newest ones finds its home in the nation’s capital. Ford, in partnership with 1863 Ventures has started a program to help female entrepreneurs in Washington, D.C. The new venture is called HERImpactDC, and it will help women to launch their businesses.

HERImpactDC will provide an abundance of assistance to these entrepreneurs, including education, guidance, and some financial aid. According to the company’s release on media.ford.com, Yisel Cabrera, government and community relations manager, Ford Motor Company Fund, expanded on the program, saying “The coaching, mentoring and resources through HERImpact DC will help women in the region succeed individually and strengthen their communities as well.”

Starting a business, particularly in a challenging economy, can be very difficult. HERImpactDC’s goal is to mitigate these issues and setbacks and help launch more female-founded businesses. The program launches fully in March 2019 with Ford holding a pitch competition, where individuals will vie for prizes for their business. HERImpactDC will help to launch a new wave of female entrepreneurs in the nation’s capital.
