In mid-2020, Ford Authority caught wind of what appeared to be an all-new off-road trim variant of the 2021 Ford Explorer. The model resurfaced once again last September, and then in October, Ford announced that the 2021 Explorer would be receiving two new trims for 2021: the King Ranch and the Timberline.

Now, right as we kick off 2021, the Ford Explorer Timberline trim has finally been seen completely uncovered. This time, we can take note of its many distinctive styling features, including a completely unique grille design and a single bar that runs the entire width of the grille.

Interestingly, the Timberline trim does not feature the inscribed “Explorer” script that can typically be found running along the bottom of the hood. Instead, a new square, rugged fog light design replaces it.

As far as performance changes (since the Timberline is allegedly an off-road focused model), this trim appears to feature a revised design that helps to improve the SUV’s approach angle. It is punctuated by an eye-catching orange line, similar to the one seen in the 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor.

Capping off the front end, we have a set of matching orange tow hooks and a new mountain-range-inspired logo just above the driver’s side tow hook. Additionally, the rear bumper has been redesigned to improve departure angle, while its signature dual exhaust has been tucked underneath.

The 2021 Ford Explorer Timberline appears to be equipped with 18-inch black wheels that are very similar to the ones currently available on the all-new Ford Bronco Sport Badlands model. The wheels are wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler all-terrain tires.

At Haldeman Ford East Windsor, we expect the 2021 Ford Explorer Timberline to launch very soon.
