The all-new 2022 Ford Maverick compact pickup was revealed to much acclaim earlier this month. In its first week alone, the pickup generated enough interest to prompt the submission of 36,000 reservations. Now, it appears those reservation holders won’t have to wait too long to take delivery of their all-new ride, as Maverick production is scheduled to begin on August 16, 2021.
Early production on the Ford Maverick technically began all the way back in February at the Ford Hermosillo Assembly Plant, though those models were simply early production units that were never designed for public use.
Later, the Blue Oval brand told suppliers that Maverick production was slated for July, but the ongoing semiconductor chip shortage pushed the date back by one month. In fact, the ongoing shortage means that dates are still subject to change.
Either way, when the 2022 Ford Maverick does begin to arrive at dealer showrooms, the compact pickup will come with an impressive starting MSRP of just $19,995, a standard hybrid drivetrain, and an estimated 40 miles per gallon city fuel efficiency rating.
Those looking for more can still opt for Ford’s 2.0L EcoBoost I-4, which can be paired with all-wheel drive to allow for 4,000 pounds of towing capacity when complete with the optional 4K Tow Package.
