This past week, the National Mustang Racers Association’s Street Outlaw Class hosted the NMRA Ford Performance Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. There, veteran driver Tony Hobson piloted his 1990 Ford Mustang ProCharged Fox Body to victory. The win was his first in the vehicle.

During the race’s final round, Hobson defeated fellow driver John Urist with a 4.422-second pass at just about 164 miles per hour. When asked about his feelings following the victory, Hobson said, “We aren’t done yet! I have the best team behind me and I’m going to push us as far as we can go! Thank you to everyone that is involved, I can’t thank you guys enough!”

Hobson achieved victory thanks to the 1990 Ford Mustang’s 440 cubic-inch V8 engine, which was custom-built by DiSomma Race Engines. The powerhouse is fitted with Diamond pistons, a FuelTech FT600 engine management system, and a ProCharger huffer. This engine’s power is delivered via a TH400 automatic transmission.

Next month, Hobson will attempt to extend his winning streak in the make-up finals of the rain-delayed NMRA Power Festival, which will now be held from July 22 to July 25 at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.
