Ford Tough Trucks Earn KBB Best Resale Value Awards

The Ford Motor Company award acceptance committee has been pretty busy this year, but it made time to take on a few more honors earlier this week. Both the 2021 Ford F-Series and the 2021 Ford Ranger have earned a Kelley Blue Book (KBB) Best Resale Value Award, an honor which celebrates its 19th anniversary this year.

Each year, KBB recognizes a select few vehicles for their projected retained value through their initial five-year ownership period. The automaker with the best overall resale value is gifted with the KBB Best Resale Value Award, as is the luxury brand, vehicle by category, and the top 10 vehicles with the best resale value overall.

The KBB Best Resale Value Awards are based on projections from the Kelly Blue Book Official Residual Value Guide, one of the most trustworthy sources for vehicle value available to the public.

This year, the 2021 Ford F-Series, which consists of both the F-150 and the Super Duty line of trucks, landed on the short list of the top ten overall resale value list. The 2021 Ford Ranger occupied a spot on this list as well.

According to KBB themselves, the average 2021 model year vehicle will retain only about 40 percent of its original value after five years of ownership, making depreciation the greatest expense a vehicle owner may ever incur. Each vehicle on this year’s list however, is projected to retain at least 50 percent of its original value over that same time frame.

In addition to the KBB Best Resale Value Awards, the Ford Motor Company has racked up an impressive display of awards and honors already, just over two months into 2021. So far this year, Ford vehicles have earned 2021 Green Car And Truck Of The Year honors for the 2021 Ford F-150 and Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2021 North American Utility Of The Year for the Mach-E, and a KBB Best Buy Award for the 2021 F-150.
