In 2023, Lexie Alford, known to many as Lexie Limitless, set out on a remarkable journey to make history by becoming the first person to circumnavigate the globe in an electric vehicle (EV). What began as a 90-day challenge covering more than 18,000 miles quickly turned into an epic, 200-day adventure that spanned six continents, 27 countries, and almost 19,000 miles. Now, Prime Video brings this inspiring journey to the screen with Charge Around the Globe, a three-part documentary series that chronicles Lexie’s pursuit of this world record.

The documentary follows Lexie’s groundbreaking EV adventure, highlighting the incredible triumphs and daunting obstacles she faced. From the bustling streets of Nice, France, to the remote, snow-capped peaks of Bhutan and the stark, barren expanse of the Atacama Desert in Chile, viewers are in for a thrilling ride as they experience the challenges and victories of long-distance electric travel.

One of the most prominent challenges Lexie encountered was the uneven global infrastructure for EV charging. As she crossed various countries, from highly developed nations to remote regions with few charging stations, Lexie’s journey revealed the disparities in EV infrastructure and the difficulties of relying on electric power in less-connected areas. The series offers a candid look at how charging availability, or lack thereof, impacted her progress and forced her to adapt in creative ways.

Beyond the technical hurdles, Charge Around the Globe also emphasizes the human connections Lexie made along the way. The documentary showcases the inspiring individuals she met during her travels, from everyday EV enthusiasts to advocates of sustainable travel. These interactions underscored the global community's shared vision for a cleaner, greener future, adding a personal and motivational layer to the story.

In addition to Lexie’s own journey, the documentary connects her adventure to history. Lexie draws inspiration from Aloha Wanderwell, a pioneering woman who became the first person to drive around the world in the 1920s in a Ford Model T. The documentary features archival footage of Wanderwell’s journey, highlighting the contrasts between her time and Lexie’s, especially with the advancements in technology that make such a feat possible today.

Throughout the series, viewers are also given a behind-the-scenes look at Lexie’s electric Ford Explorer. At the time of filming, the vehicle was still in pre-production, making her journey even more groundbreaking. Lexie’s commitment to proving that EVs are viable for long-distance travel is central to the narrative, reflecting her determination and belief in the future of sustainable mobility.

Charge Around the Globe is an exciting and inspiring watch for anyone interested in adventure, the future of electric vehicles, and the potential of sustainable travel. Lexie’s story is a testament to human resilience, the power of innovation, and the importance of pushing boundaries in the quest for a cleaner planet!
