What to Bring When You Buy

Shopping for a car, whether new or pre-owned, is such an exciting time, and there's no better feeling than making your final decision and driving away in that ideal vehicle you've been searching for. When you shop for a vehicle at Haldeman Ford in East Windsor, we want to ensure that your car buying experience is as streamlined and painless as possible. We know there are a lot of moving parts when it comes to making your final purchase, so to help give you one less thing to remember, here's a list of everything that you should bring with you to the dealership when you're ready to purchase your car.

Drivers License

The very first thing you'll need is a valid driver's license. Make sure you check that it's not expired! It's also important to note that your license will need to be issued by the state that your new vehicle is going to be registered in, unless you're in the armed forces. In that case, any state can issue your license.

Proof of Insurance

The next thing you need to ensure you have is your insurance card. It must also be up to date, and it has to include the name of the person buying the vehicle, as well as anyone else who will be included on the title. It's ok if this insurance card is registered to your current vehicle and not your new one, just make sure you bring it with you!

Form of Payment

You have many options in terms of payment for your new vehicle, and at this visit you might be making a down payment, setting up a payment plan, or purchasing an extended service contract. You should bring some form of payment with you, such as your checkbook or your wallet, to ensure that you'll be able to head home with your new vehicle straight away.

Anyone Who Will Be on the Title

If there are going to be any co-owners or co-signers involved in the purchase of this vehicle, they should be coming with you to sign the papers. Anyone whose name will be on the title or the trade title should be there with you.

Trade-in Vehicle Title

If you are going to be trading in a vehicle that doesn't have a current bank lien on it, you should bring the title for this vehicle with you. Our sales team can provide you with more information about this!

Vehicle Registration Card

If you are trading in a vehicle that you still have a lien against, or if you are going to want to transfer your current license plates onto your new car, you should bring your vehicle registration card. The sales team members at Haldeman Ford can tell you more about this process.

If you bring whichever of these things are relevant to your situation to the dealership with you to purchase your new vehicle, your process is sure to go smoothly! At Haldeman Ford of East Windsor, we want to ensure that your car buying experience is the best that it can be, so if you have any other questions, don't hesitate to contact us! A member of our expert staff will be happy to help you.
