The F-150 is perhaps one of the most successful and the longest running truck model in the history of automobile engineering. It comes from none other than the legendary car manufacturer Ford which is named after the iconic Henry Ford. After the recent success of the F-150, Ford has now decided to launch a revamped version of the beast with a brand new 3.0 liter diesel engine powered model. The news is still not officially confirmed by Ford however an emissions calibration sticker has been found in the wild. This is terrific news for fans of the company which is known to have dominated the industry for decades now and Ford never needed a bailout.
The Sticker
The emission sticker is seen being listed as JFC1-3.0-986 and as you will notice, the devil is in the details here. In the middle of the serial number is the number “3.0” which technically confirms the rumor that Ford is preparing to launch a 3.0 liter diesel engine.
The 3.0 liter engine is a common displacement for the oil burning segment and it comes as a no surprise that the company is preparing to dominate the segment once again. And why not, Ford is really getting good at their end game here.
It is well known that Ford earlier owned the British company long ago when the Lion TdV6 was still in the development phase. Some of you will argue that it does not makes sense for the F-150, the sticker is talking about a 3.0 engine specifically, but it may or may not be the same JLR engine being used in the Range Rover. You will have to wait for more details to roll out.
Some sources are also claiming that they could hear the typical diesel engine noise from under the hood including the Venturi style exhaust pipe.
Earlier, there were speculations running wild that Ford will be using a 3.2 liter 5 cylinder Transit diesel engine; however it seems that Ford is no longer using that engine and that is great news. The reason is that the Transit engine is only capable of pumping out 185 horsepower with a 350 pound torque. The 3.0 liter engine that has been confirmed by the sticker on the other hand offers 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. It is far below the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel engine.
185 hp is not that impressive. Wise call Ford.
